Guinea Pigs are very docile animals and they can live harmoniously in groups. Once they get to know their owners, they can be very responsive and affectionate towards their owners. They popcorn (little hopping dance) and whelk (squeaking noises) when they are happy.
Guinea pigs diet consists mainly of green vegetation, hay, food pellets made from hay and wheat. Guinea pigs also need daily supplement of vitamin C (about 100mg per pig per day) to keep them healthy and strong. Guinea pigs drink a lot, so make sure they have a constant supply of fresh water all times.
When guinea pigs appear tired or lethargic and not eating well, they might be sick. Guinea pigs die easily when they get sick (usually within a few days). If they appear sick, bring them to the vet immediately.
